"1924 Marland & Ponca City Oklahoma Miller Brothers 101 Ranch Round Up Grounds 20 Bucks advertising note" is a historical piece related to the Miller Brothers 101 Ranch, a famous Wild West show and rodeo event held in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Rarely available and scarce in this grade, at the advertised 20 Bucks. The "flowing" serial number digit style as depicted on pages 42-44 of Indian Territory and Oklahoma Obsolete Notes and Scrip by Maurice Burgett. The Miller Brothers 101 Ranch had both their annual "Round Up" at the 101 Ranch and a successful traveling Wild West show billed as "The Real Wild West." Burgett states that this scrip was used to pay for the advance billing of billboards and posters for the show. The note in this lot that help change the mind of this cataloguer has the appearance of being in a frame for a very long time due to the toning. We have seen only one note in the third style and it is in this lot. In conclusion, speculation on the 1924-27 dates listed above is due to the fact that Joseph C. Miller, who was one of the Miller Brothers of the 101 Ranch and the head of their Wild West Show at the time, was found dead in the 101 Ranch garage with his car running on October 21, 1927. A final postscript is the fact that the traveling "The Real Wild West" show had its last engagement at the 1939 New York World's Fair.
