1862 Arkansas – Washington 50¢ cents – Washington Exchange Co. – R-684-3 This 1862 Arkansas Washington 50¢ is a unique addition to any collection. The Exchange Company was either local merchants or retired merchants according to the 1860 census. It is likely that this company was formed to provide bank services. The notes were redeemable in a variety of notes including Arkansas War Bonds, treasury notes, Confederate notes, and Louisiana notes and were secured by a special deposit of similar securities. The note has tattering along the edges and a few holes. The notes were printed on the backs of five dollar notes from the Real Estate Bank of the State of Arkansas. See photographs for condition.

This Depression era currency is pre-owned and in very good condition. Looking from the front, the bottom left corner has a very small tear ~ half moon tear missing off the very corner. This bill also has a couple of deeper, noticeable creases/fold ~ no tears related to these fold.
