Chicago, IL- Bay State L.S. Co. $5 Advertising Note May 1, 1888 Vlack-UNL PMG Choice Fine 15 Net. In addition to the information gleaned from the note itself that indicates this firm was actively selling land in Nebraska and Wyoming and offering five silver dollars as a rebate on the first payment for 160 acres of land, newspaper articles from 1887-1890 also suggest that it was actively engaged in the cattle business. The note is printed in green and resembles the face of an 1886 $5 Silver Certificate (Fr. 259-265). The note has been severed and rejoined and has some paper clip rust noticeable mainly on the back. Very scarce and seldom offered, with only a small handful of notes surfacing in the last two decades.
